The patent attorney firm of Aoyama & Partners was founded in 1965. From its early days, the firm worked on many international cases thanks to its strengths in the pharmaceutical field, and was involved in numerous intellectual property lawsuits both inside and outside Japan. The Aoyama of today is a general patent attorneys' firm that has patent attorneys who are specialists in a range of areas including machinery, electricity, chemistry, and life science, as well as in the design and trademark fields. This enables us to respond to the diverse needs of our clients. In 2001, we opened an office in Tokyo, in addition to our Osaka office. Using our own proprietary computer systems that we have developed in conjunction with a software development company, we maintain precise deadline management, earning deep trust from our clients.
On the other hand, the environment surrounding patent attorney firms is significantly changing. Intellectual property has become an influential and a strategic tool for companies, playng a major role in their business development. Also, as exemplified in the spread of the internet, the volume of IP-related information has increased explosively, and now anyone can access to the latest information. Further, there has been a significant progress in the fusion of technologies from different fields, such as the role of IT in healthcare and the involvement of bio-related elements in electrical equipment.
Facing with these major changes, Aoyama & Partners is also entering a new phase. We systematically pursue as an organization that collects vast volume of new information exceeds the amount formation that an individual could obtain. However, our goal is to become a firm that will not stop at the mere collection of information, but that will also be able to analyze and leverage that information to make proposals to our clients, such as in application and litigation strategies. Handling the fusion of technologies from different fields by our patent attorneys who cover a diverse range of technological areas, is something which Aoyama & Partners excels. We also established a new legal affairs unit in April 2017 to deal exclusively with litigation cases.
Along with these major changes, the requirements of our clients have also changed. However there is one thing that has stayed the same, and will always be the same ever since our foundation. That is the way we provide sincere support for our clients from a professional perspective, tackling and finding solutions to all manner of intellectual property-related challenges. Each and every member of our firm works to refine their skills everyday, to achieve our goal of continuing to satisfy our clients by providing them with services of highest standard in order to meet their expectations.
