As you may know, Japanese government has declared the state of emergency on April 7th, 2020. Both of our Osaka
and Tokyo offices are within the area designated by the declaration. The following is a quick summary of how we,
at Aoyama & Partners, are dealing with the situation.
1. Work-from-home and Flexible work hours
In order to prevent the spread of the virus, majority of workers at Aoyam&Partners’ Osaka and Tokyo offices,
including clerks, are now working from home.
A few managers, etc. are working at the offices on a flexible work basis, in order to ensure all official deadlines are
kept while clustering is minimized.
2. E-mail and telephone communications
E-mail communications can be used as usual. However, there may be some cases in which our responses to
telephone calls will not be as quick as usual. We appreciate your understanding and patience in this regard.
3. Video and web conferencing
Video conferencing and web conferencing with our clients and colleagues are available. Please do not hesitate to
contact us for setting up conferences.
4. JPO filings
Sending and receiving official communications with Japan Patent Office will stay consistent. Please rest assured,
we have a solid system in place so that all official deadlines are monitored and met.
In this challenging time, we will do our best in meeting our clients’ and colleagues’ expectations, while complying
with Japanese government’s request. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. We hope we all can
beat this virus together soon. Please take good care of yourselves and your family.
